By converting fuel directly to electricity Solid Oxide Fuel Cells are more efficient than Gas Turbines or internal combustion engines   

Direct conversion 

Unlike in a combustion process, fuel and air is never mixed in a fuel cell. The electrochemical process converts fuel and air into electricity, water and Co2.

Easier to Capture CO2

The large exhaust volumes make carbon capture from engines and turbines costly and space consuming. With SOFC it is much easier to capture the Co2 from the exhaust.
